Rhamnus
Wonderful texture and a narrow form combine in a tough, adaptable Fine Line buckthorn, a refined columnar buckthorn selection. A great landscape plant, Fine Line buckthorn combines the feathery foliage of 'Asplenifolia' with the narrow upright habit of 'Columnaris,' making it an ideal narrow hedge shrub. Use Fine Line in narrow hedgerows as an effective upright privacy shrub, as an accent plant, or even in a patio container.
It's a great vertical accent for the perennial garden, and the narrow habit of this columnar buckthorn is perfect for framing entrances. This is an extremely useful, architectural plant and dependable narrow hedge shrub for the home or commercial landscape. This cultivar produces very few fruit, and among those, only 2% are viable. Fine Line Rhamnus is an environmentally friendly replacement for weedy, older varieties and works beautifully as an upright privacy shrub.

| Maintenance Notes |
Very adaptable, Fine Line buckthorn prefers well-drained soil. No pruning is usually required for this columnar buckthorn, but may be pruned in late fall to remove dead or broken branches. Though it tolerates dry conditions once established, it looks and performs best with average moisture. If desired, fertilize in early spring with a granular rose or garden fertilizer. Fine stems with textured foliage make a nice filler for bouquets and arrangements from this Fine Line buckthorn.
